Hiking and Horseback riding in El Yunque
Departs from Carabalí Rainforest Park into the foothills of El Yunque National Forest. Guests will ride Paso horses while enjoying magnificent views and experience the stunning flora and fauna of this unique eco-system. Our extraordinary adventure will take you alongside the Mameyes River, whose fresh clear waters are perfect for cooling off during the half-hour swimming and refreshments break in the one hour tour.
All participants are given lessons in horseback riding, including safety rules and regulations before departing and will be provided with riding helmets as a safety precaution. Our experienced staff will determine the appropriate horse per individual guest in accordance with weight, height, and experience. This tour caters to all levels of riders: beginners, intermediate, and experienced riders are all welcome. Paso horses are characterized by their stamina and comfortable ride. Explore the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest system on this half-day trip. Walk the park’s nature trails, surrounded by tree orchids, giant ferns and wildflowers, as you venture to a camera-worthy collection of waterfalls and panoramic vistas in northeast Puerto Rico.
We travel from San Juan to El Yunque, admiring the typical native towns and changing scenery as you ascend higher into the rainforest. This ecosystem is named after the ancient Indian spirit Yuquiyu, who was believed to have once reigned over all of Puerto Rico, protecting the island and its people.
Begin an easy walk on one of the trails, keeping an eye out for any of the area’s wildlife. Make your way along paths thick with tree orchids, giant ferns, wild flowers and tropical hardwood trees, and Waterfall.
Then make your way back to San Juan, arriving back at your hotel in the afternoon around 4:30pm.
